DEI in the Workplace Library

TrainingToday’s DEI in the Workplace Library’s objective is for employees to be able to demonstrate respectful workplace behavior and apply given techniques for improving relationships with coworkers who are different, have a foundation for respectful discussion of LGBTQIA+ concepts, avoid microaggressions, collaborate with neurodivergent coworkers, understand how racism affects the workplace, and how to be an ally.

This library complements BLR’s full-length eLearning courses on diversity and unconscious bias to help bring your DEI program to the next level. The DEI in the Workplace Library includes:

  • 20 micro-courses
  • 60 total minutes
  • 4 key topic areas
    • Ground Rules for Workplace Behavior
    • LGBTQIA+ Basics in the Workplace
    • Neurodiversity in the Workplace
    • Race in the Workplace

HR Courses

In addition to the new DEI library, we’ve also launched three new courses for people leaders to help them effectively manage their teams and know how to respond when a situation arises that requires actions.

Employee Burnout: This course explains burnout and how to prevent and counteract it for the supervisors who work and interact with employees the most—and, therefore, are best positioned to spot burnout early and create an environment that prevents burnout.

Reasonable Suspicion: Reasonable-suspicion testing should be based on observable factors like behavior, appearance, and body odor, not on rumors or hearsay. As a supervisor, it’s essential that you recognize the signs and symptoms of intoxication and ongoing abuse and respond according to your organization’s policies.

Human Trafficking Awareness and Response: This course will inform you of the basic foundation to understanding what human trafficking is and its relation to modern-day slavery, what it looks like, and what you should do if you come across human trafficking.

Chicago-Specific Harassment Training

The Chicago sexual harassment prevention training was created to meet the city’s requirements for training supervisors and employees on unlawful harassment. The interactive training and exercises are designed to help employees recognize, respond to, and prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

The courses meet the requirements of Chicago’s Human Rights Ordinance § 6-10-040 by providing 2 hours of training for supervisors, 1 hour of training for employees, and 1 hour of bystander intervention training required under the ordinance for all employees. Importantly, the bystander intervention training offers strategies for intervention so employees know how to intervene when harassment occurs.

  • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Response for Employees in Chicago: In this course, we will define sexual harassment and its negative effects in the workplace, as well as outline the steps to prevent and respond to sexual harassment in the workplace. This course will also discuss the responsibilities in creating a workplace that is free from sexual harassment.
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Response for Employees in Chicago (Spanish)
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention and Response for Supervisors in Chicago: In this course, we will define sexual harassment and its negative effects in the workplace, as well as outline the steps to prevent and respond to sexual harassment in the workplace. This course will also discuss the responsibilities of a supervisor in creating a workplace that is free from sexual harassment.

Leadership Courses

Our Leadership for Employees and Leadership for Managers and Supervisors libraries went through a major refresher this summer. This update included a full subject matter expert (SME) review, the creation of new scenarios, and a template redesign that incorporates a fresh look and closed captioning. The leadership content refresh also included the launch of the following new titles:

  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ): The main objective of this session is to help you practice EQ techniques to better regulate your emotions and develop stronger relationships with your colleagues and network.
  • Employee Engagement: In this course, we will learn how to diagnose and engage employees so they can become more committed to their work and will be less likely to leave.
  • Leading Innovative Teams: In this course, we will examine cutting-edge, innovative techniques used in some of the most successful companies in the world. The main objective of this session is to help you discover these practices to help you and your company succeed.
  • Giving and Receiving Feedback: This course teaches how to give feedback properly so it’s not awkward and doesn’t make people feel uncomfortable when it’s received.
  • Delegation: The main objective of this session is to learn a delegation model and the steps needed to delegate well.
