Complying with revised Hazard Communication regulations

FREE WEBINAR

OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) governs how chemical hazards are communicated to employees. OSHA consistently cites it as one of the top 10 violations, and the agency has recently finalized changes to the rule. The final rule was published on May 20, 2024, and took effect on July 19, 2024.

These updates to the rule aim to enhance worker safety by providing clearer and more consistent information about hazardous chemicals. Are you up to date on these recent revisions and how they may impact your operations?

During this webinar, Timothy P. Fagan, Content Manager and Senior Editor for BLR’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) publications covers:

  • Identifying chemical hazards, including new and updated physical and health hazard criteria;
  • Properly labeling containers of hazardous chemicals and implement the new HazCom label requirements;
  • Determining employee training requirements and updates;
  • Ensuring the proper maintenance and availability of safety data sheets (SDS), and recognize any new information included in the SDS; and
  • Creating a HazCom plan that meets compliance standards.

Updates to the Hazard Communication Standard require employers to align with GHS, utilize updated labels and SDSs, provide more comprehensive training, maintain a revised written program, and comply with phased implementation deadlines. Staying ahead of the curve can help enhance compliance and ensure a safer workplace.
