Universal Wastes: Large and Small Quantity Handlers
Course description
This course provides information about how large and small quantity handlers of universal wastes can properly manage universal wastes. It covers the proper procedures for safely managing the five hazardous wastes that are federally identified as universal wastes: batteries, lamps, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (MCE), and aerosol cans. This course does not address the requirements for universal waste transporters or destination facilities.
By the end of this training, you will be able to Identify the five universal wastes; recognize the health and environmental hazards associated with universal wastes; properly label, handle, and store universal wastes; and respond to emergencies such as spills or leaks from universal wastes.
