Course description

No matter what your line of work, you may be exposed to risky hazards. So, it’s important to know about the hazards that exist in your workplace, and how to prevent injuries that can result from poor safety practices. This session provides a basic safety orientation for all new employees.

At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
  • Maintain a safe workplace and access safety information
  • Demonstrate good housekeeping practices
  • Apply proper ergonomics and safe lifting techniques
  • Prepare for and respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Identify chemical hazards and use chemicals safely
  • Use safe working practices around machinery
  • Select and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) effectively
