Course description

This training session focuses on safe rigging for crane and derrick operations at construction sites.
A critical job for the safety of any crane or derrick operation is rigging the load. A poor rigging job can lead to injured workers, property damage, or other serious consequences. Rigging is the most time consuming of any crane operation and represents the greatest hazard potential.
In this training session we’ll cover the fundamentals of rigging cranes and derricks to safely hoist loads and discuss safe work practices that will protect you from injuries related to rigging.

Learning objectives:

At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
  • Recall the basics of crane operations, including the limits of the equipment
  • Select the right sling and other hardware for the lifting task at hand
  • Assess your rigging equipment and hardware with care, using established criteria
  • Recall how to rig up a load for safe lifting
