Workers who enter permit-required confined spaces are potentially exposed to hazards from oxygen-deficient, energized systems, engulfment, entrapment, and toxic materials. Fortunately, there are effective and well-established safe practices, testing protocols, and hazard controls that can prevent injuries and illnesses caused by these hazards. This course is for all employees assigned to permit-required confined space entry, including supervisors, authorized entrants, attendants, and rescue personnel.
Certain roles including supervisors, authorized entrants, attendant and rescue personnel may need additional training not covered in this course.

To supplement this course, employers are required to provide employees with the following, per 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.146:
• Two-way communication
• Hands-on practice
• Verification of competence
• Site-specific information
