Forklifts are essential pieces of equipment that help us move mountains of heavy materials. But forklifts are also dangerous—especially to people working or walking near them. Stay alert and take proper precautions to protect your safety. Otherwise, you could be seriously injured or even killed by a forklift. This course is for pedestrians and employees working around forklifts.

Workplace violence refers to any act or threat of physical violence, abuse, harassment, or intimidation against an employee that occurs at the workplace. Workplace violence can occur across all different kinds of industries and occupations. This course focuses on preventing workplace violence for retail workers in New York.
In addition to this course and to be compliant with New York’s Retail Worker Safety Act (NYS Labor Law, Section 27-e), employers must provide employees with the store’s workplace violence prevention policy and give store-specific training on:
Worksite-specific list of emergency exits (a detailed list or a floor map with emergency exits);
Staff meeting location in the event of an emergency;
Emergency-related devices (including fire alarms) and how to operate them;
Additional emergency procedures (e.g., specific procedures for an evacuation);
Security-related devices (including personal response systems and panic alarms) and how to operate them; and
Store-specific security problems and how to address them (this information only needs to be provided to supervisors).
